Functional
The Monsoon perc was developed in 2005 after I was stuck under my sink working on plumbing issues. The drain in your sink is simple technolgy referred to as a ‘P’ trap. It works with gravity to keep a water boundary between You and the stinky sewer. The difference between your sink and a Monsoon is the position of the water. In your sink, water is pushed into the drain and through, while in a Monsoon, the water is inside already and air is pulled through. It is the same principle of surface tension. We just reversed the order from water/air/water to air/water/air. Sink = Fluid Dynamics, Monsoon = Aero Dynamics.
Its ingenious design incorporates a system of carefully positioned holes that allow smoke to bubble through water effortlessly while ensuring the water stays securely in place until you’re ready for cleaning.

The Chameleon Glass Monsoon Sherlock Bubbler has quickly become one of my favorite pieces in my collection. Yes, I know the water in the photo looks absolutely filthy! That’s actually kind of the point. I wanted to show just how much gunk and impurities this little bubbler filters out before the smoke ever reaches your lungs. The cleaner the hit feels, the dirtier the water ends up looking—and this thing definitely earns its keep.
