Functional Design & Craftsmanship
The piece is fabricated with crushed glass called frit, created by taking 10mm thick rods of colored borosilicate glass and breaking them into sand-like bits with a hammermill. Rather than scattering frit randomly, artist Steven Hoffman melts it into a pre-heated tube from the inside out with the same precision required for recognizable sand art — but in a constrained workspace, working against a 2800°F flame.

How to Use
- Pack the bowl and light at an angle to draw flame evenly across the surface.
- Cover the carb (if present) while lighting, then release as you inhale to clear the chamber.
- Draw slowly and steadily for a smooth, even hit.
Care & Cleaning
Clean with isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt, shake gently to loosen residue, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Let it air dry fully before reuse.
