The glass used to fabricate the pipe is borosilicate / Pyrex glass for durability. An Ash Catcher indented mouthpiece acts as a superior dry filter. The bowl hole has been replaced with a honeycomb screen to increase flow without increasing particulate pull through.

Decoration for the design is strictly color change. Pure silver is atomized at 1700°F and deposited on the glass. Pure Silver. Not Silver Oxide, not Silver Sulfate; unless it is pure the fume turns brown. The silver is then melted into the exterior of the glass. Each time the pipe is used, a small amount of shiny resin is deposited on the inside of the pipe. The shiny silver layer on the outside refracts light into seperate colors like a prism. The shiny resin reflects colors back out through the shiny silver layer. The silver then blocks all colors except blue and green. The pipe changes color to Blues and Greens. Clean it to return to shop spec and restart your color changing journey.

Dry Filter

The Big Bowl Ash Catcher Screen Glass Pipe may be named for its large bowl, but it’s the dry filtering Ash Catcher indented mouthpiece that keeps your draw clean. As one of many Chameleon Glass innovations, the Ash Catcher was one of the first available in early 2002. The Ash Catcher’s indented mouthpiece serves as a dry filter ash catcher, preventing any heavier-than-air particles like ash or particulates from being pulled into your mouth.

Particle weight deflects the ash downward to collect at the base of the indented funnel trap; away from the mouthpiece hole. Think of it like a funnel in reverse; the mouthpiece of a regular pipe funnels ash out of the pipe and into your mouth. The Chameleon Ash Catcher indented mountpiece funnels the ash AWAY from the mouthpiece hole and into a conical trap instead.

Screen

Screens replace the single hole found at the bottom of a regular bowl. The volume of air that can pass through a screened bowl is tripled. Chameleon uses a seven hole laser cut honeycomb screen. TRUTH: No matter the glass screen type, honeycomb or tic tac toe style, unwanted ash particles are still going to pass through. The Ash Catcher solves that.
