Red, White and Blue for your Green. Regardless of your opinion on the great American Democracy reinventing itself again, we’re all on this roller coaster together. With a little bit of help, I think we’re all going to end up getting abong just fine. And if not, we can all definitely get apipe; hopefully THIS pipe!

Functional

The S&S is fabricated with 38mm x 4mm borosilicate Pyrex tubing. For this design, true colors are very important. We chose to lay the colored glass first to maintain color rendering and accuracy to the human eye. Silver is atomized into fume and set on the inside of the tube behind the colors. Color change ( greens and blues ) will occur behind the colors of the Stars and Stripes. The structural and decorative work is all done using Inside Out ( aka Double Blown ) technique.

Art

We’re hoping Betsy Ross would be proud of our glass rendering of the cloth she sewed for our nation. The 13 colonial Red and White stripes stretch from the head to the mouthpiece like an unfurled flag. The Union has a few less stars, each the hot touch of the liquified white rod. Behind the ‘stars’ is a field of cobalt blue frit glass. Inside Out or Double Blown technique takes it’s name from working the INSIDE of the Pyrex tube. While more difficult, Inside Out provides far more depth and dimensionality to your chunky functional art.
