Skull Ghost UV Glass Pipe
The Skull Ghost UV Glass Pipe features a white skull marble and ultra violet eyes that activate with a black light. The technique utilizes a mirror / reverse mode where the face is sculpted from the back. After the contours of the face are complete, two small ultra violet reactive marbles are melted into place behind the eye sockets. The front of the sculpture is then bathed in crushed white glass (frit). The Reticello was fabricated at the Arizona Project under the supervision of Marcel Braun who devised the Reticello technique for lampworking in Boro. The Encalmo sections feature Experimental Green #5, Alchemy Mint, Sno White and Raven Black. The majority of the reservoir is Sno White on Clear Reticello to view the water filtration. Piece of the Day 092021Today's Piece of the Day is an authentic Shubuh Micro-Bub. Fabricated from top to bottom with Fade to Black from Trautman, this abstract dab rig is a Tour de Force on how to use one of the more difficult colors available in our palette. Heavy with encapsulated silver oxide, Fade to Black refuses to be controlled, offering variations in color that completely change size, shape and intensity when cooled from torch temp (2500) to annealing temp (1050) and again at room temperature.Why does it matter? It's a bitchy color to use AND you never know what it is going to look like when you open the kiln doors the next day. Even when you have one of the dopest shapes available in a rig, the color can slap the blower in the face the next day by being totally black, totally grey or, in this case...totally awesome!
