Inside Out or Double Blown refers the decoration or ornamentation of the glass pipe. Inside Out or Double Blown indicates that the artist worked the inside of the glass (versus the outside or ‘surface’) which is much more complex than working the surface of the glass. Inside Out worked glass has greater color rendering and especially more depth and dimensionality of decoration, but takes considerably longer if done properly. Inside Out is the most accurate description of the technique, double blown is a term popularized by importers seeking to create a new term to dumb down (it was blown twice, once to open the glass, once to close it) the description of the technique.
