The Ash Catcher Glass Pipe is so named because of the indented mouthpiece. One of many Chameleon Glass innovations, first available in early 2002, this was one of the first! By indenting the mouthpiece, anything heavier than air (ash, particulate or any solids) is pulled down by the natural effect of gravity, misses the mouthpiece hole and is deflected further downward to collect at the base of the indent. Ever done archery? Imagine a bow in your hand and an arrow ready to shoot. You have two targets. One is a funnel with the hole pointing away from you, the other has a funnel pointing at you. If you shoot at the target pointing away from you, your arrow will always be a bullseye as the arrow is deflected from the sides of the funnel and into the hole. The Dancer Series Glass Pipe is a selection of pipes made with three complementary or contrasting colors that speak to a specific theme. We named them Dancers because of the way the torch flame dances around in the turbulence created by how thick we lay the color wrap on the pipe. We also add a small amount of silver fume under the colors. When the model is raked up and down with clear to create the pattern in the colors, windows open between the colors. Our Gandalf Glass Pipe doesn’t require you to have a beard, but it sure looks good with one. Functionally, the model took a while to perfect back in 2002, torches were not as well designed and glass was more brittle, so, the model really took some doing to get the gather and then the stretch to expand uniformly. I designed the Gandalf Pipe as a throwback to the classic pipe style that I fell in love with after LOTR debutted in 2001. This piece has a long drop, which gives extra cooling space for your smoke. Absolute Zero Extract Glass Pipe
What makes the Absolute Zero Extract Glass Pipe unusual is the miniaturized coil condenser. Coil condensers have been a staple of scientific glassblowing for years, but, they are typically very large. The coil provides a pathway for smoke to travel over the super cooled surface of the glass. The smoke is blast chilled and condensed prior to inhalation. Once the smoke passes out of the pipe, it offers a crisp pull that does not burn or irritate the throat and immediately begins to expand. As it expands, the smoke gains pressure and pushes into the deepest reaches of the lungs to provide twice the normal transfer/absorption. Absolute Zero Freezer Glass Pipe featuring Bonehead Skull
What makes the Absolute Zero Freezer Glass Pipe featuring Bonehead Skull unusual is the miniaturized coil condenser. Coil condensers have been a staple of scientific glassblowing for years, but, they are typically very large and meant for laboratory settings. Our coil is made with specially manufactured small diameter size glass tube. The small diamer allows us to shrink the apparatus to fit in your hand (and your freezer!) The special tubing is perfect to maximize heat transfer from your smoke to the chilled liquid inside the chamber. Other freezer pipes are bulky and use cheaper materials like mineral oil. The coefficient of expansion of these cheaper materials is significantly larger than the organic, plant based glycerin used by Chameleon. Mineral Oil is great to float sparkly bits like a snow globe, but it can expand to the point of cracking the glass if left in full sun. By indenting the mouthpiece, anything heavier than air (ash, particulate or any solids) is pulled down by the natural effect of gravity, misses the mouthpiece hole and is deflected further downward to collect at the base of the indent, instead of being pulled into your mouth. The Claddagh Glass Pipe is from the ring bearing the same name. It belongs to a group of European finger rings called "fede rings". The name "fede" derives from the Italian phrase mani in fede ("hands [joined] in faith" or "hands [joined] in loyalty"). These rings date from Roman times, when the gesture of clasped hands was a symbol of pledging vows, and they were used as engagement and wedding rings in medieval and Renaissance Europe. Towards the end of the 20th century there was an explosion of interest in the Claddagh Ring, both as jewelry and as an icon of Irish identity. In recent years it has been embellished with interlace designs and combined with other Celtic and Irish symbols, but this is a very recent phenomenon that corresponds with the worldwide expansion in popularity of the Claddagh ring as an emblem of Irish identity.
