A Gandalf style pipe owes it’s title to Tolkien’s favorite Wizard of the same name. The shape of a Gandalf pipe is longer than most pipes with a slightly upward arched neck and a bowl kicked back towards the smoker to provide line of sight observation into the bowl.

The popularity of this shape is not all celebrity. Tolkien himself posed with several pipes of this shape while writing his Opus. The upward arch of the neck redirects the flow of smoke into the side of the glass where detritus sticks yielding a cleaner smoke. The length of this shape also provides ample time to cool significantly yielding an ambient temperature pull. Together, this pipe offers a mellow and cool pull every time.
