Absolute Zero Freezer Glass Water Pipe
What makes the Absolute Zero Freezer Glass Water Pipe unusual is the miniaturized coil condenser. Coil condensers have been a staple of scientific glassblowing for years, but, they are typically very large and meant for laboratory settings. Our coil is made with specially manufactured small diameter size glass tube. The small diamer allows us to shrink the apparatus to fit in your hand (and your freezer!) The special tubing is perfect to maximize heat transfer from your smoke to the chilled liquid inside the chamber.Other freezer pipes are bulky and use cheaper materials like mineral oil. The coefficient of expansion of these cheaper materials is significantly larger than the organic, plant based glycerin used by Chameleon. Mineral Oil is great to float sparkly bits like a snow globe, but it can expand to the point of cracking the glass if left in full sun.Chameleon fills the Absolute Zero Freezer Glass Water Pipe with organic, plant based glycerin to ensure the chamber does not fail if you happen to leave the pipe out. After close to 30 years in business, we've also seen our fair share of odd ways that glass is broken. Glass does in fact break, but glycerin is easy to clean up if one of your friends accidently drops it during the sesh!The internal coil of an Absolute Zero Freezer Glass Water Pipeis in constant contact with the super cooled glycerin contained in the chamber. Our coil provides a pathway for smoke to travel over the super cooled internal surface of the glass for heat transfer. The smoke is blast chilled, condensed and re-humidified prior to inhalation. Once the smoke passes out of the pipe, it offers a crisp pull that lessens any irritation and immediately begins to expand. It is so named because of the indented mouthpiece that serves as the dry filter ash catcher and the straight shape. One of many Chameleon Glass innovations, first available in early 2002, the Ash Catcher was one of the first! By indenting the mouthpiece, anything heavier than air (ash, particulate or any solids) is pulled down by the natural effect of gravity, misses the mouthpiece hole and is deflected further downward to collect at the base of the indent, instead of being pulled into your mouth.Ever done archery? The She Sells Sea Shells Glass Water Pipe by Trident stands between 14 and 16 inches tall. It is fabricated on 44mm wide by 4mm wall thickness clear pyrex. After the classic bubble base is blown, the glass is fumed with silver for Blue and Green color change. The mouthpiece is flared and the mid section offers an ice indent and an old school Mercury Seal joint. Each piece offers a matching color bowl and a life like glass sculpture of a Conch Shell accompanied by a few undersea critters.Many of the lathe operators and tube arters come from a large lamp working tree with it's roots in the soil of Jerome Baker Designs. You can see the inspirations from JBD in not only the art and decoration, but also in the downstem. It used to be that a hole was popped in the midsection of water pipes. After the proper hole size was attained, the hole was reinforced to accept a rubber grommet.All of that process still happens, but modern craft method at Trident takes its lead from scientific lamp working and employs a Mercury Seal by grinding the inner wall to accept a glass on glass downstem. Soft Glass allows for more color combinations not available in 'hard' glass aka Pyrex/Borosilicate. Less heat also means less energy used which means lower price which means more can be used during fabrication.
